Current Issue
October - November 2008 Issue
Vertical's diverse Oct-Nov issue features an array of exciting and relevant topics that offer a little something for everyone in the civil helicopter industry. Plus, this key issue accompanies the second-ever edition of the parapublic-focused Vertical 911 to AMTC 2008 in Minneapolis, Minn.
In this issue, we feature two companies who’ve garnered success by creating a unique niche and focus. This pair of profiles starts with Jen Boyer’s look at helicopter parts specialist Precision Heliparts and continues with Mike Reyno’s visit to forestry and oil & gas operator Slave Lake. On the emergency medical side, Jeff Decker travels to Minnesota to fly with Mayo Clinic Medical Transport and get some insight on how this EMS operator utilizes the latest medical and aviation technology to create the leading edge of health care and flight safety.
In our second part on helicopters in the motion picture industry, Brent Bergan takes you on a dynamic trip inside this sector, flying with a variety of film and television operators across North America. And, if that wasn’t enough excitement for one issue, Boyer does double duty with her detailed look at Scott Kasprowicz and Steve Sheik’s record-breaking around-the-world flight.
Of course, none of the exciting things helicopters do can exist without proper safety. To that end, Allan Cram looks at implementing flight data monitoring in your operations, and Shawn Coyle reports on finding a potential solution to the problem of maximum performance takeoffs.
To close out this diverse edition, Kevin Nelson provides our readers with a review of some key ground handling options and how to choose the one that’s right for you; while helicopter finance expert Sharon Desfor details the liquidity crisis currently facing the industry and how this will affect your helicopter purchases.
